AMD’s RDNA 2 flagship graphics card might only stand against Nvidia RTX 3080
It’s a roller-coaster of rumours for gaming and hardware enthusiasts as they keep hyping us up and then bringing us down. This time, it’s about AMD RDNA 2 vs Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti.
Coreteks website has recently reported that AMD may not be planning to take Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti head on as soon as it releases.
We were hoping for a stiff competition for performance per watt between the two graphics giants at the launch all across the board.
Reportedly, AMD has named the high-end gpus Sienna Cichlid ASICs. It has also started to share the board information with respective AiB partners.
Unfortunately, previous rumours had us believed that RDNA 2 is going to be ‘Nvidia Killer’, but it is sadly not going to be the case.
As it turns out, RDNA 2 is going to be ‘Nvidia Last-gen Killer’ because it is nearly 15-20% faster than Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti.
So, that puts it directly in competition with Nvidia RTX 3080.
Given that Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti is rumoured to be significantly faster than RTX 2080 Ti, AMD has no chance of beating Nvidia’s enthusiast level offering.
For gamers, it means that there will be no competition against RTX 3080 Ti and Nvidia can go on pricing it at $1100 or $1200+ as it pleases.
Since, it is currently the only graphics card that is speculated to offer 4K gaming at 60+ FPS in all ray-tracing supported gaming titles, we would want it badly.
AMD Big Navi Release Date
AMD has planned to showcase Big Navi gpus in September and release date would be 7th October 2020.
Nvidia RTX 3000 Series Release Date
As for Nvidia, it is also going to launch RTX 3000 series on 17th September 2020 with a release date of 1st of October 2020.
AMD Big Navi Mid Range GPUs
As of this moment, it doesn’t look like AMD is targeting the enthusiast market (which may change in 2021).
It is also being reported that AMD has registered mid-range gpus, codenamed Navy Flounder, which are geared towards RTX 3050 and RTX 3060.
It doesn’t mean that RTX 3070 is left unattended because the high-end line-up of AMD Sienna Cichlid is actually targeted towards RTX 3070 and RTX 3080.
There is still a whole month left and you will see a lot of ups and downs with these rumours. So, kindly take every piece of information with a grain of salt.
I am also including a speculated spec-sheet of AMD Big Navi gpus.
Please do let me know about whether you will buy Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti even with its ridiculous price or will you go with the competitive route against AMD RDNA 2 vs Nvidia RTX 3080?
