Nvidia’s CEO Jensen Huang to unveil Ampere graphics card line-up
Finally, the time has come, Nvidia has officially announced the event date for GeForce Event 2020 & with it, Nvidia Ampere launch date is upon us.
Nvidia GeForce event will be held on 1st September 2020, 9 AM PT (12PM ET, 9:30 PM Indian Standard Time).
They have also put up a page for the same, dubbed as The Ultimate Countdown.
The tagline reads:
Before we enter the future, join us to celebrate the biggest breakthroughs in PC gaming since 1999. And what comes next.Nvidia
It’s obviously a clear mention of the upcoming RTX 3000 series graphic card. As of writing this article, several rumours are pointing towards a single graphics card being launch on the said event date, RTX 3080.
It is being mentioned that RTX 3080 Ti will be launched later in September 2020. Other graphics cards in RTX 3000 series will be launched as follows:
RTX 3070 – November 2020
RTX 3060 – December 2020 or Q1 2021
RTX 3090 / RTX Titan 2 – Q1/Q2 2021
Of course, these are just speculations & final dates will be clarified during GeForce Event 2020 or may be a few days later.
Gamers are really enthused about the RTX 3000 series because it will offer some significant improvements over Turing graphics cards.
For one thing, RTX 3000 series is going to be manufactured on 7nm fabrication process, which will make it significantly power efficient than last gen’s graphics cards.
Nvidia RTX 3080 is rumoured to be 35-40% faster than RTX 2080 Ti. Given that RTX 3080 is a successor to RTX 2080, it means that it might deliver nearly 50% better performance than RTX 2080.
The final piece of the puzzle is the price. Nvidia RTX 3000 series price will be slightly more than last gen’s series, but to compete with AMD Navi’s prices, it won’t be too steep.
So, gamers can breathe a little easier on that note because as you might already know, local retailers are turning down orders for RTX 20 series and discontinuing any future stocks of the same.
I’ll keep you apprised of further updates regarding Nvidia RTX 3000 series, so make sure to bookmark this page.
